2021 Book “The Art of Coding”

Greg has published a new book in August 2021

Following a similar approach to Sun Tzu conveying his advice in The Art of War, this book captures a compelling set of best practices for how coders, developers, programmers, and software engineers should write code to ensure a higher chance of success.

The key to success is understanding how to code and deploy a software application that meets the requirements of the client and is coded well enough to be robust but not over-engineered. The principles of understanding your enemy, i.e. bugs and defect plays a part in the education of the reader, so they can be aware of any potential downfall and weakness. Armed with this knowledge they can then prepare their code to resist attack and overcome typical issues from planned or accidental data errors.

Modern-day wisdom on DevOps, deployment, architecture, teams, and personal traits are all wrapped up in a style similar to the original Art of War to make it a mix of old and new and show the connection between strategies and tactics from 2000 years ago applied to pragmatic current day coding conundrums.

An enlightening and different approach to conveying the message of good software development in short and succinct notes that will appeal to anyone interested in coding, a seasoned coder or just a casual reader.
