How to organise a desktop and a brain
Tools are a very personal thing so this is a collection of apps that works for me and my brain. Having worked for many years primarily on a Windows PC then switching to a Mac was assisted by a couple of these apps to provide a similar experience across devices. This allows me to concentrate on problems and solutions, not on keyboard shortcuts or desktop management.
My Choice of Tools
numi — An all-in-one desktop calculator, units converter, time and clock tool. The most useful feature is the ability to have a scrolling history list.
AltTab — Provides a similar experience to a Windows desktop in that the key combination of COMMAND + TAB gives a list of open apps that can then be navigated and selected through
cheatsheet — Simply press and hold the COMMAND key for a popup list of keyboard shortcuts that work for the currently selected application.
Rectangle — a Windows organiser with easy shortcut keys to make a window snap left, snap right, maximise, or minimise.
